Uh oh…there goes my wheel!
I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota 4×4 Quad Cab. This was my first purchase of an American vehicle, so I had my hesitations. After test driving all of the competitors trucks and all of them failing the “fat guy test” — which was me (a fat guy) to be able to sit comfortably behind the driver — I decided to purchase the Dodge Dakota because my fat rump could sit just fine behind me (I know…it’s confusing…don’t ask).
It hasn’t been too bad in the two years I’ve had it. I’ve only had 2 problems with it thus far:
- The steering column had to be replaced (under warranty) because of a loud noise that it was making in sharp turns. It sounded like metal scraping against metal.
- Some emission tube came loose and need to be replaced/repaired. (also under warranty)
Both problems were fixed professionally and fast by the service department at Vasko Dodge — which was where I purchased it. They were great before, during and after the sale and I have nothing but great things to say about them.
Unfortunately, I woke up to this news on Friday about my truck and its impending recall. The wheel might come off? Are you kidding me? Although they say not to panic, reading reports from people whom this happened to isn’t calming me down much.
All of a sudden, the new Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma are looking more and more attractive.
