Too Much Death Right Now
Could things get any more depressing around here right now? My cousin John died two weeks ago from a massive heart attack at the age of 41 — leaving behind my cousin Linda and their five year old daughter Kara. No one saw it coming and our entire family is devastated for a life lost way too early and too young.
Last Thursday afternoon, I got a call from my cousin Brian letting me know that our Aunt Anna passed away earlier that morning. She was 89 years old and lived a good long life and took such good care of my Uncle John after he had his stroke. I know she’s happy to be with him again in Heaven.
Yesterday morning, I opened up the paper and saw a name I recognized and found out that Andy Beck, the 7 year old brother of my friend Carl, had passed away from cancer — even though he was in remission. It is so incredibly sad to think of such a beautiful little boy being taken from his family and his future. I can’t even fathom what it feels like to lose a son, brother and grandson at such an early age.
God has three new angels now, and I don’t want to go to a funeral home for a long time. Three times in two weeks is too much.
