So What About The Rest Of The Year?
I’m sitting here after watching yet another Christmas-related commercial (this one was for Radio Shack’s post-Christmas sale) and I’m wondering — what do these midget (or is it “little people”) actors do the rest of the year? I mean, for Pete’s sake — I must have seen like 10 different commercials with Santa’s “helpers” or elves or something — all played by adults who are midgets. I know everyone has to make money somehow, but is Christmas time the only time they can actually get a lot of work? Aren’t there any movies or TV shows where they are needed?
And another thing — when I heard that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was being re-made, I thought it would lead to the hiring of tons of midgets to play all of the Oompa-Loompas, but they were all actually played by one dude who was replicated a gazillion time through the wonders of technology. What a rip-off!
