RIP Mayor O’Connor
City of Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O’Connor passed away last night after a two month battle with a rare form of brain cancer. Although I am not a city resident, I feel terrible for him, his family and the entire greater Pittsburgh area.
Mayor O’Connor finally got elected on his third try at the office and had only been in office 8 months when he passed away. His death is one of those times when you just gotta ask “Why him and why now?” He had really started to get things going in the city — beginning with his “Redd Up Pittsburgh” program. I thought it was a great name for this program to clean up the city — since anyone that grew up here knows that your mom will tell you to “redd up” your room before you go outside or do anything else fun!
It’s a damn shame that Mayor O’Connor passed away. Too young and too soon. May he rest in peace.
