Is He Really Our Governor?
Furthering the idea he’s a complete buffoon, Governor Ed Rendell was quoted in an interview basically mocking senior citizens — which if he checks the voting statistics — clearly shows that they are in fact the largest group of voters in our state. When asked about whether or not easier access to gambling in Pennsylvania will create more people addicted to it, he said:
Asked whether easier access to casinos will result in an increase in the number of people addicted to gambling, Rendell said yes, but added that “for every one person who falls addicted to gambling or loses their paycheck, I’ll show you 500 — mostly seniors — who spent $40 at a casino and had the best day of their month.
“And if you don’t believe me, come to Philadelphia — I know exactly where the buses board for Atlantic City.
“These are people who lead very gray lives. They don’t see their sons and daughters very much. They don’t have much social interaction. There’s not a whole lot of good things that happen in their month,” the governor said of some seniors.
Ok…so let me get this straight. Basically, Cheesesteak Ed is saying that some seniors live such dismal lives that we need to provide these casinos to them — while we’re also going to create new gambling addicts at the same time. This guy is unbelievable. I can’t stand the fact that he’s our governor and that we are going to have these games in Pennsylvania. I’d like to know what Governor Rendell will say to “Little Tommy” who tells him that his family lost their house because Daddy gambled too much and the bank foreclosed on it. What will you say then Ed?
