No One Wants The “Clean” One

That’s what I heard at the The Record Exchange, a CD & DVD buy/sell/trade place in Dormont. They were playing David Banner’s CD called “Certified”. I normally don’t get into rap, but this CD was pretty good. I was surprised that I didn’t hear any swearing so I asked one of the guys what that was about. He said “Oh..we were playing the “clean” version.

I had heard about “clean” versions of CDs, but never saw them in the mainstream stores. The guy proceeded to tell me that they had a “clean” version and a “dirty” version for a few bucks more. i know most rap is filled with vulgarities so it didn’t surprise me that I needed to pay to hear swearing. The sad thing was when the salesman said “Yeah man..NO ONE wants to buy the clean ones”. I told him “well guess what — I want to buy one! and then proceeded to pick up the clean version of “Certified”.

I actually really like the CD and don’t miss the swearing at all. Don’t get me wrong, I have a potty mouth at times — but I don’t think I have to hear motherf**ker, a**hole, etc. in a song 100 times in order for me to enjoy it!
