NIN In Cleveland

I’ve been a Nine Inch Nails fan since the days of “Pretty Hate Machine”. And yes, I do own an original copy of the CD from 1989! Anyways……although I’ve been a huge fan, I’ve only had the opportunity to see Trent (and the touring band) once before this past Sunday.

Unfortunately, Trent has decided to skip Pittsburgh for this leg of the tour, so I decided to call my friend Dwayne to see if he would go with me to Cleveland. He, of course, said YES and I bought the tickets online a few months ago.

Well, the day of the concert finally came and we left for northern Ohio to check out one of our favorite singers/bands — most people don’t know that Nine Inch Nails is really just Trent Reznor. He does all of the instruments and vocals, but he brings a band of musicians out with him on tour since it’s a bit hard to do all that stuff on stage by yourself!

We decided to skip the first band called Autolux, but we headed in for the second band — Queens of the Stone Age. I wish we had stayed outside because I didn’t like their act one bit and found myself bored and impatiently awaiting the arrival of Trent and the boys. After a WAY TOO LONG set, QOTSA got off the stage and the setup crew got things ready for NIN.

Overall, I thought that they were excellent — especially because of the selection of songs for the show since Trent took songs from each one of his albums — even though he rightfully favored “With Teeth” since that’s the album that’s out now.

My camera phone doesn’t take very good pictures from the back of the arena, so if you want to see what the show was like, check out this link.. I also found this great interview with Trent where he talks about remembering what it was like to go to concerts and how it has shaped the shows that he performs for his fans.

Trent has never disappointed me with his music or his concerts and this past Sunday’s show was no exception. I just hope that he’ll come to Pittsburgh in 2006!
