Paul Mockapetris, King of DNS

There are a number of people that we can be thankful to for their assistance with the invention of the Internet, the World Wide Web and everything associated with it.
I just learned today that Paul Mockapetris is the inventor of the Domain Name System (DNS). DNS provides you with the ability to surf the Web because it enables you to reach servers via the web address that you type in — for example, when you typed in www.13ball.com in order to get to this site, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) took your request and looked on its DNS server for the IP address associated with my domain name. Once the DNS server found my IP, it then retrieved my web site from the server it is hosted on and enabled it to be viewed on your browser.
Thanks Paul. If it wasn’t for you , we couldn’t browse the web!
