Gateway Center Responds

I’ve always advocated using technology to your benefit — whether it be for personal or professional reasons. There is so much out technology out there — web sites, software, hardware, etc. to make your life easier and make things more efficient.

Unfortunately, technology sometimes needs to be used in the middle of a tragedy or some other traumatic event like a flood, tornado, hurricane, etc. In this case, downtown Pittsburgh suffered a pretty bad flood as a result of a major water main break down near the Gateway Center complex of buildings. Businesses were shut down for days, cars were ruined and a lot of people were inconvenienced.

Fortunately, The Hertz Investment Group — the folks that own the Gateway Center complex — realized that they could keep their tenants informed about the clean up situation by posting a web site — www.gatewaycenterrresponds.com. I think this is a great (and very simple) way of using technology to somehow make a bad situation better. As you can imagine, knowing even the smallest amount of information about when people and businesses can return to the building is vitally important, so this web site goes a long way towards keeping people informed and maintaining goodwill with their customers.
