Footloose — Tehran Edition

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has instituted a ban on Western music in his country. Sounds to me like he wants to be the new Ayatollah Khomeini — who also instituted the same ban.

The most disturbing part of the article though is the following statement — “Songs such as George Michael’s “Careless Whisper,” Eric Clapton’s “Rush” and the Eagles’ “Hotel California” have regularly accompanied Iranian broadcasts, as do tunes by saxophonist Kenny G.” George Michael? Kenny G? When you hear that, maybe you can’t blame him for wanting to ban our music! Ha ha!
