Death’s Conservative Spin
When I saw the headline “Cult Leader Who Killed 5 Executed“, I was only interested in reading it because I wondered what “cult” this guy started and who was stupid enough to follow him. What really caught my eye, however, was this part of the article:
It cost $385,000 to keep Lundgren incarcerated for 16 years. His execution cost $74.16.
Since when do articles start listing the costs of legal defense and execution?!?!? I know that the “it costs more to house someone in jail instead of killing them” argument is used alot (which actually isn’t true at all!) — but this is the first time that I can remember reading anything like this at all. This article was clearly written by a pro-death penalty, conservative author. So much for reporting the news without any bias!
