How Wall Street Works

// October 16th, 2008 // 2 Comments » // Humor

Once upon a time, in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.

The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $20 for a monkey.

This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each, and the supply of monkeys became so small that it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. ‘Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35, and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.’

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys. They never saw the man nor his assistant again, only monkeys everywhere!

Now you have a better understanding of how Wall Street works!

Pittsburgh: The Turkish Television Series

// August 15th, 2008 // No Comments » // Humor, Pittsburgh

I’ve been following a web site called Tunesmith and Anthony for a little over a year now. Anthony is the main force behind the site and — like PittGirl from The Burgh Blog — he also writes anonymously. I wish I knew who the hell this dude is because I’d love to buy him some beers one night to thank him for all of the funny stuff he’s posted to his site over the years.

His most recent masterpiece has been “Pittsburgh: The Turkish Television Series”. He’s taken some obscure Turkish television show and put subtitles along the bottom to make it look like the episodes are dealing with present day issues in Pittsburgh. It’s some of the funniest stuff I’ve watched on the web in a long time (although it won’t be funny to people outside of Pittsburgh) and I keep looking forward to new episodes. You can watch the first episode below and then make sure to check out Part 2 and Part 3.

I know that I shouldn’t laugh at someone defacing an advertisement, but this one is freaking hilarious!

Are You A Slinky?

// December 27th, 2007 // No Comments » // Humor

I got an email tonight with various sayings and this one was by far the funniest one:

“Some people are like a Slinky. Not really good for anything, but you still can’t help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.”

Swear Jar

Budweiser has always had the best commercials hands down. I didn’t see this one on TV but their “Swear Jar” ad is f*&king awesome!. And here I thought that “Apology-Bot 300” was one of their best before I saw this one.
